Research and planning: Initial group meeting

Synopsis:

Socially deprived Sophie, known as S, lives her life wanting to be someone else. She has never had friends or even a stable relationship. So when she moves to college she plummets into her own derelict world of feeling lost and helpless. That was until she met Jenna. One conversation was all they shared, however this was one conversation Jenna should never have had.

S begins to fixate on Jenna. Trying to match her personality and admiring her gestures. Eventually S decides she must become Jenna.  She thought at first being her friend would be enough. She wrote her a letter to explain her intense jealousy and anguish, desperately hoping Jenna would understand. However fearing rejection, she decides to replace her.

Constantly watching her every move, S slowly knows Jenna’s routine off by heart and starts to tear it down bit by bit. Motivating dark thoughts about her life, Jenna begins to break down. Paranoia, hostility, and a constant need for answers means, she has no friends and no relationship, the only person she has is herself. Or is she truly alone?!

Target Audience:

Primary:
The primary audience for this film is going to be teens and yuppies (mainly those under 25). This is because it relates to people in education, therefore these are the people who will most likely be interested in watching it. People of this age also have a lot of money to spend on leisure activities in comparison to other audiences.
It will use a lot of stereotypical horror conventions which means it could appear to be mainstream. This is always a good target audience because there is a wide variety of people classified as main streamers which therefore means that the film will have big sales.
Secondary:
Our secondary audience will be horror fanatics. It may sound as though aiming a horror film for horror fanatics is easy. Involve every horror stereotype and you've grabbed them, right? In my opinion, no. Horror fanatics watch horror films all the time, they know if something has been pulled off correctly and will therefore easily point out any flaw in your film. They would have seen a lot of horror films so making sure that our film stands out from others will be a massive task. This means that we will have to aim to add interesting new twists in to our film so that horror fanatics will also enjoy it.
